In later years, she was an active volunteer in the thrift shop at The Estuary Senior Citizens Center in Old Saybrook, CT. An avid thrift shop enthusiast, she channeled that passion into community service by founding and for many years running “The Bargain Box” resale shop on behalf of WARC. Rosalie was also a member of the Mattatuck Community College Advisory Board, Southbury Training School Cottage Parents Group as President, Wolcott Board of Education, Wolcott Democratic Town Committee, and the Area Cooperative Education Service in Wolcott. She was very active with the Waterbury Association for Retarded Citizens (WARC) as their secretary and the Connecticut Association of Retarded Citizens as an executive board member. She was a graduate of Wilby High School in 1941 and of Mattatuck Community College in 1983 with an Associate’s Degree in General Studies. Rosalie was born in Waterbury, on April 26, 1924, daughter of the late Antonio and Maria (Vozzo) Buonocore. She was the beloved wife of the late William D. Rosalie (Buonocore) Valletta, 93, of Old Saybrook, formerly of Wolcott, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Jat the Gladeview Rehabilitation & Health Care Center. “Loving Mother, Grandmother, Sister & Community Leader”
